Nursing & Midwifery Engagement Forum – Creating a Positive Place to Work
Building  Health Service Staff Engagement Community

Would you like to be part of shaping how the health service engages with staff? If so, we’d like to invite you to participate in our Nursing & Midwifery Engagement Forum. The Forum will provide a space to bring thoughts and ideas about how we can engage with each other more fully in our health service.

Who will be involved?
I am inviting applications from nursing & midwifery staff in all roles, grades, age and geographic areas from all levels in the HSE and voluntary sector.
Membership of the Forum is designed to accurately reflect the current nursing & midwifery staff profile in the health service as shown in the 2017 Health Service Personnel Census. The Forum will have members from across health and social care services to ensure a proportional representation of staff and members from a strategic engagement leadership Group committed to driving the change agenda.
If you are interested in joining the Forum please contact I would appreciate it if you can please share this email with staff who may not yet have access to email.

What will the Forum do?
The Forum will be a place where the voice of nursing & midwifery staff for creating a positive place to work is heard and acted on. The members will assist the health services to support implementation of a staff engagement strategy which will directly influence and shape how we involve all staff in the design and delivery of services.
A core strand of our People Strategy, is to improve staff engagement across all levels of the healthcare service i.e. staff will have a strong sense of connection to the service and support team colleagues to deliver better outcomes for patients. I believe staff have a unique insight into the challenges faced by their services and are often best placed to identify areas for quality improvement. When given the scope to do so, staff input can lead to creative and practical solutions to the challenges we face.

The first event is taking place on Friday 11th May, 2018 with a masterclass on Person Centred Cultures. It is hoped that the group will meet 4 times a year with ongoing opportunities for input during the year. Initially the Forum will be sponsored by National HR Director, the Chief Nursing Officer, Department of Health and Director of Nursing & Midwifery Services, HSE.

Expressions of interest are invited to before close on Friday 4th May, 2018.

Best wishes,

Rosarii Mannion
National Director Human Resources
