HSE Healthy Weight for Children Framework and associated NURTURE E-Learning Modules launched today
Dr Sinead Murphy Consultant Paediatrician, Temple Street Children’s Hospital launched the framework as well as two NURTURE e-learning modules: ‘Healthy START for toddlers’ and ‘Healthy weight for children’.
The Healthy Weight for Children Framework was developed by a multi-disciplinary working group with input from HSE, safefood and TUSLA. The framework provides strategic direction for a national and sustainable approach to facilitating healthy weight and the prevention of obesity in children aged 0-6 years in Ireland. Two e-learning modules have also been created (‘Healthy START for toddlers’ and ‘Healthy weight for children’) to guide and support parents on toddler nutrition and to enhance the skills of HSE staff in supporting parents whose children are overweight or obese.
To access the online training module follow these steps:
- Log into HSELand.ie
- Click on ‘Course Catalogues’
- Select the ‘National Healthy Childhood Training Programme’ icon.
- Select the ‘Nutrition’ icon. Both units are listed as course 06 and 07.
Each training module should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. There is a brief assessment (5-10 minutes) at the end to achieve certification.
