Fair Deal provides financial support for people who need long-term residential care. The person who requires long term care pays part of the nursing home fee and the HSE pays the balance.
A range of information for the public and for staff is available on the Fair Deal website. The site has accurate, up to date information in plain English about:
- how the scheme works,
- who can apply,
- what someone’s financial contribution might be,
- the list of approved HSE, private and voluntary nursing homes etc.
The Fair Deal application form is complex but staff are available to support people through the process in local Nursing Home Support Offices.
