Enabling self-management in people with persistent pain & other long-term conditions ~ 2 day training course
Where: Centre for Nurse Education building University Hospital Limerick, Classroom 2 When: Monday 16th & Tuesday 17th of January 2017
This very practical course introduces nurses to the techniques they need to engage and support people to self-manage persistent pain and other long term conditions
This course uses a range of engaging and interactive approaches including:
- Introduction to a cognitive-behavioral approach
- The bio-psychosocial model and how to use it effectively
- How to engage people in self-management
- Dealing with unhelpful beliefs and behaviours
- SMART goals, action planning and problem solving
- Linking mood, thoughts and behaviours
- Preventing and managing set-backs
- ‘Living well’ with a long term condition
The course will be delivered by:
Dr Patrick Hill, Clinical Health Psychologist and Ms. Eve Jenner, Specialist Physiotherapist from Enabling Self Care Training Course UK. For more information log onto: www.enablingselfcare.com
Course Details: Monday 16/01/2017 (9.15am to 17.00hrs) and Tuesday 17/01/2017 (9.30am to 16.00hrs) There is no fee to attend as kindly funded by the CNME. Lunch funded by the Pain Clinic St. John’s Hospital.
