As you might be aware, the Irish Haemophilia Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The Irish Haemophilia Society provides support to hundreds of people with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders.
To mark this important milestone they have produced a documentary in relation to the history of the Irish Haemophilia Society (IHS). Given the HSE’s close working relationship with the IHS and the important work they have done with their members infected with Hepatitis C and HIV over the past 50 years, Michele Tait has arranged a viewing of the documentary for HSE staff to mark their milestone anniversary.
The Documentary is called ‘Facing the Rising Sun – 50 Years of the Irish Haemophilia Society’.
The film takes account of the foundation of the society, struggles for safe treatment, compensation and tribunals, and Ireland’s position in leading improvements to haemophilia treatment. The film includes fully restored archive footage, interviews with members, former staff and volunteers, healthcare professionals and the people connected to this 50-year story.
